It’s a fanon thing. And I’d assume specifically a JC anti thing, trying to suggest that he somehow knew it was Wei Wuxian’s core, and thus is to blame for being given it.
The only thing we actually get in canon is Wen Ning telling Wei Wuxian during the reveal that Jiang Cheng could never have compared to Wei Wuxian otherwise, and the fact that we’re told and shown multiple times early on that Wei Wuxian always beats him. But this doesn’t actually translate into Jiang Cheng being able to identify that the core was stronger– if, indeed, it really was! Wei Wuxian’s superior skills might have come from his being physically stronger, or having a better eye, or who knows what.
This is def a jc anti talking point. Wwx always did beat him, but he was literally just one step behind wwx. They always use the fact that wwx was stronger as a sorta 'gotcha this bitch jc was weak so he def knew it wasn't his core' implication, when in fact he was right there on the top of that best young gentlemen/cultivators list with wwx, just one place behind him.
But also... even if jc *did* think his core was stronger... he thought it was *his* core restored by bssr. Bssr, the immortal. There is no way in hell he could have ever fathomed that the core was stronger not because a legendary immortal restored it, but bcuz his shixiong had a dr do a back alley experimental transfer surgery on him.

A recent post of mine was reblogged by an anti, claiming JC was only "mediocre".. This is the same guy that raised his sect from the ashes virtually on his own and maintained that status and fearsome title long after.
It's all well and good, having a strong core. That certainly helps. But having a good head for politics and understanding the current social climate is way more important imo. Both JGY and NHS' very existence proves that.
He didn't get where he was because of WWX's "loaned core." He got where he was on his own merits. Bare in mind, he was still able to keep up with WWX and achieve great things with his own core too (remember how he ran for days on end without rest to save WWX and LWJ in the turtle cave.)
He already was extraordinary. He just had to work harder than WWX for it, and that's fine. I'd argue that proves his resilience and mental fortitude, if anything. And it really does annoy me that JC antis try to take all that from him 🥲

Ive been litterally losing my mind over @tbgkaru-woh 's designs for like 3+ days now straight. ESPECIALLY HUAISANG!!!! Im planning to make some proper art with their designs at some point but for now this is the closest I have. I also have now developed the habit of giving Huaisang braids that you'll see in my other doodles whenever I happen to post them ehe
